The Office is King of Romances!

From Trina at 10:29 AM PST.

There's a great article on NPR explaining how The Office is the most romantic show on tv. There are spoilers for 'Blood Drive', if you've yet to watch it, but no spoilers for future episodes! Just a really nice perspective.

In The Post-Shipper Era, 'The Office' Is The Most Romantic Show On Television
by Linda Holmes

Are you familiar with shippers? Or, technically, 'shippers? A shipper is a person who self-identifies as a fan of a show based on a rooting interest in a particular romantic relationship ('shipper, get it?).

In most places where television is discussed, the most devoted shippers are, frankly, the bane of everyone else's existence, because there is not an episode, a scene, a shot, or a camera angle that doesn't somehow relate to whether or not there will be kissing.

From Mayette at 11:16AM PST.

Love life troubles? Meredith has started a revolutionary list of rules of love and lust:

I started reading this stupid women’s dating guide, The Rules. That book is a joke. Like they say, “don’t stare at a man…” but how do you let a guy know you’re ready to party if you don’t ogle him a bit? And they say, “don’t rush into sex…” but what if that’s the only reason you’re out on a date? I didn’t get much past that, because there were THIRTY-FIVE freaking rules written by a bunch of uptight feminist chicks who don’t know beans about what a man really wants. If you ask me, The Rules are meant to be broken (hehe)!. ...

Read about how she got the idea and Rule #1, and about Rule #2.

The newest issue of Entertainment Weekly has all the scoop and speculation about what's coming up on all the cool hip tv shows, so you can bet The Office is one of them! And since we don't want to be spoiled, I didn't even read inside. But, I did scan the cover and the table of contents that feature Jim, Pam and Michael for the gallery.

The Oscars were on the other night and a lot of people won awards and stuff, but the biggest news was that Jennifer Aniston and Brangelina were together in the same room! I've spent the last three years reading countless Us Magazines, agonizing over where I belong: team Aniston or team Jolie? I've flipped back and forth between the two camps, and I can't do it any more. This night would decide once and for all if I was rooting for Angelina Jolie, the saintly beauty that saves children while looking awesome, or Jennifer Aniston, the toned goddess that won my heart as Rachel so many many years ago...

It's a new year, so perhaps we can finally put an end to rampant incompetence that continues to plague this office. For the last time, do not use permanent markers on the dry erase board. The only time it has ever been acceptable to use permanent markers on the dry erase board, was when I wrote, "DO NOT USE PERMANENT MARKERS" in permanent marker on the dry erase board. My warning could not be any clearer. ...

Dying to hear your thoughts...

I am dangerously close to buying the following items off TV. I'd like to hear from folks who have bought any of these things - did you like them, did they stand up to your expectations?

From Mayette at 3:39PM PST.

A few blog updates to give you guys a fix until the next episode--

Meredith blogged about helping an out of control friend and her Valentine's day:

Last Saturday was Valentine’s Day. The day of love, so I was lookin’ to get nailed. My latest squeeze, Keith, had dinner plans with his wife, so this year I was flying solo. To celebrate, I got dolled up to hit the town and find myself a Valentine. I broke out my spanx, took off my bra, put on my best denim dress, and used the make-up I swiped from the lost & found box at work. I looked damn good!...

Dwight shared his thoughts on Mose's new addiction, something we all love:

When choosing which foods to consume, I generally seek the most nutrient-rich provisions. My rations serve as fuel, which I use to power my complex, highly efficient, ass-kicking machine. I especially enjoy protein-rich foodstuffs full of real down-home flavors: be they salty, gamey, or grizzlish. I've even been known to enjoy goat milk iced cream, which manages to be both salty and gamey! What I don't like and what I will not tolerate, is Mose's recent infatuation with this God-awful frozen yogurt craze....

And finally, Mindy pushed the envelope talking about neon and Jews:

Two seasons ago, Marc Jacobs had the most incredible neon accessories. But I don’t shop at Marc Jacobs, with it’s intimidating protruding Melrose/Melrose Place facade and its skinny rocker boys holding the doors open. I shop across the street at Marc by Marc Jacobs, where the atmosphere inside is comforting and creative, like Harvey Milk High.

Neon is the new metallic? Indians are the new Jews? You can waste a lot of your day coming up with “blank is the new blank”s. But since I’m out on script this week and have no one to talk to all day, I can think about it all I want. So yeah, neon is the new metallic. I love the way neon looks. It’s part 80’s all-star and part traffic cone. Either way, it’s totally playful and great....

Jenna posted a new blog on her myspace about a recent TV Guide appearance:

Typing Contest

Hey guys! Happy Monday! Here is a cute little video I did for TV Guide Channel. One of their hosts challenged me to a typing contest. If you want to try for yourself, go to www.typingtest.com. That's what we used.

Sounds like a challenge, don't you think? Anyways, there's a video of the interview at her blog as well, so go read the rest!

From Trina at 11:09 PM PST.

Hello, everyone! Weeeeee'reeee back from the festival, and trying to get back into the world of our regular schedules. And unfortunately in doing so, we've both gotten sick. So needless to say things have been slow to return to normal. But enough time has gone by, wouldn't you say? How about an update? In fact, how does 202 gallery updates sound? I hope it sounds good, because that's what I have for you! 202 new images have been added to the gallery, all of which are promos from season one through season five. Yeah, take a look.

We're glad to be back and hope you guys didn't miss us too much (a little is okay, but c'mon, control yourselves). Until the next update!

Okay you guys, don't hate us. We're going to be on a makeshift hiatus this week, but for a good reason! The both of us are going down to L.A. to compete in the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. We're both bringing our laptops and are going to try to update when we can, but we just wanted to make sure you all knew the reason behind slow/lack of updates. Wish us luck, we'll be aaaaaaaAaAaAaACTIIING!!! And we'll leave you with the great words of Andy Bernard:

"Andy Bernard does not lose contests. He wins them... or he quits them because they are unfair."

New Layout. Feel the Love, People. Feel it!

From Trina at 8:37 PM PST.

Fancy New Whatever's got a new layout to celebrate Valentine's Day! Here's hoping nobody catches you off guard next week expecting gifts:

Pam: You need to get something for your girlfriend.
Dwight: Girlfriend. Yes, and the reason I didn't get anything for this particular person - who shall remain nameless - is that she's not really the kind of person you'd think would be into Valentine's Day. She's kind of...
Pam: Tightly wound?
Dwight: Exactly.
Pam: Ok, well, sometimes the gift is really about the gesture, you know, like what it means, instead of what it is.
Dwight: You mean, like a ham?
Pam: No, not like a ham. It's about doing something, so that the person knows that you really care about her.
Dwight: Ok, I get it.
Pam: That you remember her.
Dwight: Ok, shut up. I know exactly what to do.

Hey, guess what? The Office Valentine's Day cards are back, and this time you can find them at Target and Walmart! Here's the scoop:

TARGET CARDS:
They were in the huge Valentine's Day section of the store, not in the card section. There are six in a box, two large cards and four mini cards, for $4.99. Here's what they look like:
Front:

Back:

Cards:

WALMART CARDS:
Opposite Target, these ones were hiding in the actual card section, not with all the other cards in the general Valentine's Day section. These are eight in a box for $4.74. Here's what they look like:
Front:

Back:
